Moved

Well I got myself moved into my new place and still have a sh*t load of box's to empty and organize also I got such an amazing deal on the place I took it right away but the hallway is really small and getting the trike in and out was a pain in the arse so I got rid of the trike and picked up a Rans rocket , sometime in the future I'll move to a place with a bigger hallway and maybe pick up another trike or the new Rans delta trike. I still have to get some lattice panels for my balcony so I can start astronomy again and need to find some ladies to go for bike rides with and get some groups rides in before the winter starts,, be back later

newplace/newrides

now that I found a sweet place to live ( just have to move in and will post pic's) I can start doing some nice long rides again around Ontario and get some trike/trailer camping trips set up. I am looking for a replacement for my hurricane and the main reason is that it can only fit two chain rings which S_U_C_K_S , I love the bike it is awesome and fasssttt but to go up steep hills I have to walk, I am looking for a low racer that is fast and has triple chain rings and is comfy for fast rides up to and around lake simcoe and beyond , challenge recumbents are a pain to ship here to the LBS which is a shame but a optima baron can be ordered and shipped and be here in about a week , I am currently checking out these two bike and some others for my long day/night rides http://www.optima-cycles.nl/main/en/modellen/3.html?Itemid=27 http://www.raptobike.com/about.php

I have ALWAY"S loved the look of Trikes but could'nt afford one plus my big hip bones made the steering tight , so Catrike http://www.catrike.com/trail.htm came out with another model called the trail which I'll try and I never did try the Road model yet so maybe it'll be a trike as a second Bent Ride , feel free to drool over the catrike picture below and check out thier site . I hope catrike made it's cockpit abit larger for us big folks

Start of the season

Well tomorrow I will be back on the Hurricane commuting to work again, I am soooooo looking forward to leaving the daily street car commute to work, I hate waiting for the street car and looking at the time and realizing that if I had been on my bike I would have already been at home or work(major sucks), TTC still looks like they are going on strike any way's , I look forward to the night rides home and rides along the lake,,,,,, this year I plan to just take easy rides till I can adjust myself with the hernia screen in my belly while riding.,,,

Saturday, March 15, 2008

We went down to the bike show and walked around , I did'nt find the helmet or red shoes I wanted and the lights ,, the bmx ramps were awesome and the dirt track was cool too, I posted a pic of a KMX Trike and a Very Sweet Pinarello bike which was freaking awesome, the show was not to bad but I found alot of the stuff from the one day sale in 2007 at the 2008 show ,, all the booths had tons of info , and we avoided the --> you NEED A CAR to join this bike group booth ,,, still no time to train and the snow is melting outside.

RANS X-Stream video 2

I really like this bike and would love to try one out , I prefer the handel bars in the Rans link to the ones in the Vid.. http://www.ransbikes.com/X-Stream.htm#

TRIKE ?

The Toronto Bike show is comming next weekend , and I am hoping they will have the Trike model below in the link and hopefully the steering posts on this bike will be wider so they won't impact my hips like the other models from this company,, I wonder how much slower I'll be in a trike ? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, http://www.catrike.com/expedition.htm

Rollersssssssssssssssssssss

Well I bought myself a set of rollers to train with and work on my back during the road salt months , stationary trainers are boring and I find rollers to be more fun and harder . I tried out my Pinarello fixed gear on the rollers for the fun of it ( I had some scary moments and false starts) and I found that my Hurricane gave a rougher/harder to pedel ride ( maybe do to the duel shocks) the rollers should get me in shape for my Lake Simcoe run in the spring .... =8^) P.S. have a great/safe newyear

I found this on the internet)

from gregk
The Art of Roadie Hunting
The art of roadie hunting ,,, Roadie hunting on a sunny Saturday afternoon can be loads of fun for the whole family. Here are two techniques guaranteed to squeeze way more fun out of each kill. So mount up your lowracer and let's go find some roadies!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (A.) THE SNEAK ATTACK This approach works best if you are approaching a small peloton of road riders. Look for matching team jerseys and some chit-chat among them for the absolute best effect. WARNING: Cancel the sneak attack if you see aerobars on the bikes. Aerobars mean they are friendly triathletes and your aggression will have no effect. Abort the attack, and instead, enjoy some friendly conversation as they will probably have questions about your lowracer.1. Approach quietly from behind. 2. When you reach their rear wheels, shout "To your LEFT!" and then pass them *slowly* on the left hand side. Your bravado is intended to aggravate the roadies. Your slow pass should indicate that you are working pretty hard. Exaggerated heavy breathing and pumping motion is a nice touch.NOTE: You MUST use a rear-view mirror for this technique! This is important for two reasons: First, a mirror is clearly a sensible safety feature, and one that a serious roadie would never, ever put on his bike. It will be viewed by the roadies as the mark of a purely recreational ,,,,,, "Sam six-pack" on a funny "re cumbent" bike. Second, for the maximum effect and satisfaction you'll enjoy from using this technique, you need to be able to see the pack after you have taken the lead.3. Once you have passed the group, DO NOT get too far ahead of them. You must slow a bit and let them sense your feigned 'struggle' at matching their superior pace. If they want to chase you, and believe me they will, you will see the lead guy get up off his saddle and look back to the other riders.4. When they start to catch your rear wheel, increase the pace slightly. The idea is to continue to increase the pace such that they are always working a little harder at catching your rear wheel.5. When it is clear that they can no longer stay on your wheel, put the hammer down. Ramp up your power to the high 200's, low 300 watts area and watch the devastation in your wake. For maximum destruction, the roadies must be tiny specs in your rear view mirror in less that one minute, and you must be out of visual sight within 2 minutes max..,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (B )"FUNNY BIKE" BAIT In this technique, you wait for the roadies to find you rather than the other way around.1. Ride very slowly and wobble from one side of the shoulder to the other. You can sing along with your music or eat a baloney sandwich.2. Watch your rear view mirror and wait until a roadie approaches from behind.3. Let him pass you. Make sure you say "Hi there! Nice day for a bike ride". If he replies, it will be short, but he will probably ignore you. If the roadie greets you first, then you might want to consider canceling the hunt. This rarely ever happens though, so don't worry,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (C) .OPTIONAL FULL DEPLOY: Don't say anything to the roadie when he passes. If he says nothing at all to you, and looks to his left as he passes you to avoid any kind of eye contact with you or your funny contraption, then you can FULLY DEPLOY on him. As soon as he pulls in front of you, pass him and unleash. Drop him as fast as humanly possible. We are going for full-out humiliation here, so don't hold back. If you choose to exhibit the finger as you blow by, be sure that you can fulfill on your intentions.4. Lead for a while and then let him take the lead. This will certainly annoy the roadie. The thought that he is running a little duet pace-line with a recumbent bike will sicken him, and he will surely pick up the pace in order to drop you and show his superiority.5. Continue the cat and mouse chase until speeds have reached his maximum. Then pull up beside him and say "You want to go? Let's go!" And then leave him for good. If you can, 250 to 300 watts for the next 20 minutes should give you enough time to be crumpling the wrapper of your subway sandwich by the time he arrives at the strip mall.Happy hunting!Greg K ///////// ///////( reposted by me in good fun but I have seen this done before so it's true )

Meeting Vic-B and Ottawa bent rider dude

I went down to urbanes to meet Vic-B which was really fun and Vic's sharp eye caught two sets of radical recumbent bags sitting under a display and I bought the small set which now solves my luggage problems, Tanya and the dude from Ottawa showed up a wee bit later ( sorry I am bad for names ) Jun and his kids were inside the shop and his kids have gotten really big since the last time I saw them ( that amazing three seat recumbent is Juns Tanya and Vic tried out a few folder bikes and Vic bought a sweet green one, Tanya tried out a few bents and it was fun as we followed her around Vic-B aka --> http://thelazyrandonneur.blogspot.com/ Tanya aka --> http://crazybikerchick.blogspot.com/ Urbanes aka --> http://ucycle.com/
